Max Rydqvist, baritone, holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from the College of Fine Arts at Boston University (’18, Magna cum laude) and a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the State University of New York at Binghamton (‘16). An active vocal performer in the Boston area, Max currently sings with the Cantata Singers, the Boston Society of the New Jerusalem, and with various local operatic companies and organizations.
Dedicated to the art of teaching, Max is a participant in the local Boston Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). Moreover, as a strong advocate of voice science and pursuing research into the psychology of singing, he holds a professional membership with the Voice Foundation. In addition to voice pedagogy, Max studied piano throughout college and graduate school. Committed to his general love of music, he has been playing piano ever since.
While his degrees are in Classical music, Max is enthusiastic about teaching piano and voice across all contemporary styles, including pop and music theater. Currently, he teaches a varied roster of students at MJ’s Music School, the Ivy Music Academy, Stage Music Center, and Ensemble Music Schools. Max enjoys helping to create a rigorous yet emotionally supportive and fun learning environment for each of his students. He is an advocate of student empowerment and loves working with students of all ages and skill level. Max’s ultimate hope is to inspire them to pursue their lifelong musical passions with liberation, perseverance, and joy.
