” I believe in keeping the lessons fresh and stress-free, for if it is not fun, something needs tweaking.”
Evan Butler has a bachelors degree from McGill University and a masters degree from William Paterson University, both in jazz saxophone performance. Furthur musical studies led him to learn drums, piano, and guitar. His interests are multi-faceted. He has a passion for jazz music, his main musical subject, as well as indie folk/rock music. In addition to playing, he is also an active composer, writing his own songs on guitar and piano for many years.
While completing his Master’s in Music Education at University of Massachusetts Lowell, Evan studied progressive theories on education and placed an emphasis on creativity and the material’s relevance to the student. Though partial to music theory and reading notation, Evan caters to the interests and needs of the individual students with the end goal being a satisfying musical experiences. His strengths are composition, improvisation, and music theory/arranging. Experienced with both children and adults, he’s a great fit for an aspiring singer-songwriter, a jazz/pop musician, or anyone looking to progress in any style .
