Rowan Barcham is a Boston-based pianist who has formed a professional career out of performing and teaching. A graduate of the jazz programs at Booker T Washington HSPVA and the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, Rowan is currently pursuing his masters of music at New England Conservatory. As a performer, Rowan has played with Dave Holland, Maria Schneider, Darmon Meader, Ingrid Jensen and many more. Rowan enjoys playing many different styles of music, emphasizing a particular passion for jazz. Rowan performs solo, in small groups or large ensembles and in his own jazz/electronic group called the Trio of Boom.
As a teacher, Rowan prioritizes giving his students of all ages the tools to help find their own creative voices. Rowan realizes that each individual’s growth and musical interests are different and works to be an informative resource to help guide them in their developments. He has been teaching piano and music lessons to students of varying ages and playing levels since high school. While Rowan mainly provides piano lessons, he also offers lessons in music theory and composition for all instruments. Rowan is not partial to specific age groups or levels, but prefers to work with students who are interested, excited and who want to expand their love for music.
